Introducing Prescott Chiropractor Dr. Scott Williamson

Dr. Scott WilliamsonI didn't have any idea what a Chiropractor did as I grew up. But as I continued my education, I migrated away from the typical medical way of doing things to a more natural path. I found chiropractic was a perfect fit for my philosophy on life and health. The more I looked into what a Chiropractor does, the better I liked it.

I was first introduced to chiropractic in 1977 by the personnel director where I worked. He knew I was interested in health care and said that the company was doing more work with their injured employees and Chiropractors, maybe I should look into it and see if I was interested. I toured the school and really liked what I saw, I started the next fall. I graduated from Northwestern Chiropractic College in 1981 and started in private practice in Prescott, Wisconsin in September of 1981.

With interests in back pain, neck pain, headaches, spinal posture and athletic injuries, we have continued to offer cost effective chiropractic care to the Prescott area for 29 years; to patients from 5 days old to their mid 90's. I have also been the on the field trainer for the Prescott Varsity football team for the past 27 years.

I have 2 children; 2 boys, now 34 and 31 years old with 3 grand daughters ages 7, 5 and 3.  Our whole family continues to be under regular chiropractic care for optimum health and wellness, keeping our nervous systems interference free and our immune systems strong so we don't get those bugs that go around.

I am a graduate of the University of Minnesota with a bachelor's degree in Psychology. I really did not know what I wanted to study, but did a lot of graduate classes in Neurological Psychology, what makes the brain do what it does. When I found out that a chiropractor works with the body and nervous system, I got really excited. That was the deciding factor for me to go to chiropractic school. I went to Northwestern Chiropractic College and graduated in 1981. I've always been interested in science, how the body works and what makes things tick. The challenge of what has gone wrong and how to change the body to make it work better has always fascinated me, it now has become my life's passion.

I like to work with our patients with a "hands on" approach. I use what is called manual therapy. I make changes in the spine and tissues with my hands, using adjustments to the spine, massage therapy, trigger point therapy and exercises. I want to touch the body and make changes with my hands to get the improvements, that way I can adapt my touch to meet the differences in sensitivity of different patients. Some people are hurting and you need to be gentle and make small changes, others can withstand a more vigorous change and respond quicker. Each patient gets a plan of care that will be best suited to what works best for them. If progress is slow, we have various techniques of care that can be used, sometimes a change in how things are done is the difference in making more progress. We attract patients that want to get improvement right away, they comment on how "they feel better when they leave each day". Results are what we strive for in all cases. If I feel I cannot help, I will tell you so right away. It is my belief that all cases will get some better in their health because of chiropractic care, even if the main problem may not change.

I have been an avid golfer since I came to Prescott, playing regularly in the summer has been sometimes an obsession, sometimes a challenge. I have been blessed with 3 "hole in ones" and one "Double Eagle" over the years, quite an exiting experience.  I am now moving away from playing golf all summer and  getting into motorcycling. I like to take trips when time allows and hope to spend some time traveling the Rockies on a motorcycle in the near future.  I recently graduated with a license in Emergency Medical Technology, EMT and volunteer for the Prescott Ambulance Service.

I continue to get regular chiropractic adjustments with a near by chiropractor. We started in practice about the same time and have worked with each other to maintain our health and strength so that we can hold up to our work demands. I walk on a regular basis and lift weights to keep up my tone, I look to walk a few 18 holes in the summer to get extra exercise, in the winter, regular workouts at Snap Fitness keeps me in good shape for work.  It just makes good sense to do the best for your body, including not putting unnecessary medications into your body. All medications carry possible side effects, even those "over the counter" ones that many people rely on each week. To not need those pills is always a good goal for improving your health.
